Greetings fellow thespians!
Due to the continuing public health concerns, the
traditional ACTFest is once again postponed. In it’s
place ACT Manitoba is hosting a Spring Gathering -
"Spring Into Action". The
purpose of this gathering is to bring together member
companies from across the Province to liaise, learn and
laugh. There will be workshops, games, and time for
conversations about the state of community theatre in
Manitoba.
We have been working at putting together a fantastic
program and now it’s time to get your registrations in.
Important information to consider:
• Saturday, June 4th 9:30am – 6:00pm
• St.
Pauls’ United Church in Beausejour – map to come upon
registration
• Participants are asked to choose three out of four
workshops to attend
• Workshops
will include:
Makeup Techniques – working in small groups,
participants will experiment with and perfect make-up
techniques. These could include basic foundation to old
age make-up. This session will be led by Rhonda Kennedy
Rogers, who is trained and experienced in stage make-up
Script Analysis and Character Development
–
working with William Morrison, an experienced theatre
educator, participants will explore scripts and learn
how to develop characters
Directing – Ray Cloutier, a community theatre
director and educator, will share with participants
techniques and methods for directing and working with
character development in community theatre
Vocal Techniques
– participants will work on vocal warmups and games that
concentrate on projection, enunciation, expression and
vocal improvs with Alice Young, Artistic Director of
Haystack Productions and theatre educator.

Games
• A time for mingling and fellowship and
enjoying a yummy BBQ supper prepared by
Roger Wilton former executive chef
for the Winnipeg Jets
• ACT will reimburse mileage for two vehicles
from each theatre company
• There is a $10.00 registration fee, per
person to help cover food costs
• This event will be in compliance with Health
restrictions of the day
