  ACT Manitoba is a provincially funded, volunteer organization, registered as a Canadian Charity, with a mandate to support amateur theatre and amateur performing arts in Manitoba.

Membership is open to all amateur theatre groups in Manitoba and member groups benefit from access to services; funding for theatre development and training; and participation in provincially-offered activities and the annual provincial performing arts festival ACTFEST.

  Change to ACT Leadership

As arranged at the ACT AGM in October, Judy Arnason has stepped down from and Anthony Ducharme has taken on the position of ACT President.  Effective May 1st, the handover was originally planned to occur at this year's ACTFEST, which was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19.  Judy will continue on the Board in the Position of Past-President, to provide experienced advice.

 

ACT Board Says Farewell to Past-President

Unfortunately, with the change in the ACT Leadership, the Board bids farewell to David Johnson, former Past-President.  David joined the Board in 2002, and has served as a Regional Rep, Insurance Liaison, Vice-President (x2), President (x2) and the Past-President (x2).  We wish him well in his future endeavours.

  

2020 Winnipeg Fringe Festival Cancelled
The Winnipeg Fringe Festival announced that due to COVID-19 the festival is cancelled for 2020.  They  look forward to the 2021 Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival (July 14–25) with passion and excitement and thank everyone for their support and understanding.

 

Gimli's A-Spire Players Suspends Summer Program
In a notice posted on their website, the Board of Director's for Gimli's A-Spire Players announced that due to upsurge in the COVID-19 virus, they have suspended all their activities, including their annual and beloved summer program, which is normally well attended by ACT Manitoba members and member groups.

 

ACTFest 2020 Cancelled
Due to the COVID-19 situation, the Board of ACT Manitoba, in concert with the Board of Shoestring Players, has reluctantly decided to cancel this year’s annual ACTFEST.  Further information is now available on our ACTFEST/This Year's Festival page.
